Blog#3 How can I make my digital content meaningful, ethical, and relevant to people from different cultures?

Thoughts about teaching English as a foreign language in Tajikistan

Now, my students can use AI to write sentences, paragraphs and even essays very quickly. But this makes me wonder: if technology can do everything, where is the student's voice?

For me, meaningful digital content is not about speed or perfect grammar. It's about making connections. When lessons reflect students' real lives, with their families, traditions and daily experiences, language becomes personal. Instead of talking about foreign holidays or distant cities, I ask students to describe their own neighborhoods, celebrations, and stories. English is a way for them to express who they are, not to replace who they are.

It's also important to be ethical. I use AI and digital tools to prepare materials, but I believe in being transparent. Students should know when technology can help and when they need to use their own brains. This teaches responsibility and honesty, not dependence.

What is relevant depends on how well you respect different cultures. English is spoken all over the world, but my students are proud of their local culture. Digital content should connect different cultures, not divide them. When students talk about Tajik traditions in English, it makes learning more meaningful and confident.

Technology can help with teaching, but it can't replace things like empathy, culture, or human experience.

AI can create words.

Only students can make these words meaningful.
